3. C.SMA PRACTITIONER OF THE MONTH: Riley Smith, L.Ac., C.SMA Riley presents a case study of a 33 year-old male patient and avid athlete. With a history of competitive CrossFit®, his patient, who
primarily engaged in Olympic weightlifting and running 1-3 miles two to three times per week along the harbor in San Diego, had stopped running for the past six months due to bilateral Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome. Running was his “mental reset” so the absence of this therapeutic exercise had been having an effect on mood and mental health as well. This patient had been to his medical doctor, physical therapist, chiropractor, massage therapist, etc., and was getting very discouraged about
the process of trial and error with no alleviation of symptoms.
