Coming up this
December, we start our last module of the 23-25 SMAC Program, Module IV: the Neck, Shoulder and Upper Extremity. The Assessment & Treatment of Injury class will be offered in NJ In December and January 2025 in CA!
If you are taking the certification track or looking to take the whole module, this is a great time to start on your Module IV online classes!
We are also super excited to announce the dates and locations of the 2025-2026 SMAC Program! Our new program will again be offered in San Diego, CA, but our East Coast program will now be
offered at the Virginia University of Integrative Medicine in Vienna, VA, just a short drive from Dulles International Airport! REGISTRATION OPENS NEXT MONTH SO BE ON THE LOOKOUT!!!

3. FEATURED ARTICLE: Adhesive Capsulitis (Frozen Shoulder): Stage One by Matthew Callison, L.Ac. When a patient presents with limited range of motion in the shoulder, it is important to properly diagnose the injury and differentiate adhesive capsulitis from other shoulder injuries that can look similar to this condition such as shoulder impingement syndrome, bursitis, rotator cuff tenosynovitis and cervical
radicular pain. Differentiating physical exams will be demonstrated and practiced.
Once the diagnosis is made, the practitioner will need to decide which stage the patient with adhesive capsulitis is in. Each stage will designate various acupuncture and motor points, myofascial mobilizations, therapeutic modalities and Chinese herbal medications that are best suited to the adhesive tissue and
sequential myofascial and channel imbalances.
