Do you KNOW the many causes of lateral elbow pain?Â
Do you know how to differentiate and treat these elbow injuries that an acupuncturist will see?Â
Lateral Epicondylitis: Fixed pain site at the lateral epicondyle. Do you know where to palpate for the extensor digitorum brevis attachment? This is the most common muscle affected with this injury.
Supinator Syndrome: This nerve entrapment can act like lateral epicondylitis but will often have a paresthesia sensation in the elbow and/or forearm region. Do you know how to assess and treat this injury for
long-last results?
Anconeus Strain: Common in over-use activities requiring repetitive elbow flexion and extension. Do you know how to locate the site of strain and treat this condition?
Lateral Collateral Ligament Strain: This injury will usually have an acute force to the elbow causing the ligaments to stretch beyond the tissue’s ability. Do you know the force within the mechanism of injury that
the patient will describe to you as the practitioner.
Radial Nerve Entrapment and the Triceps: Do you know why it is a good idea to assess the triceps for tightening and adhesions with any lateral elbow pain?
Is the lateral elbow pain part of a radicular pain pattern? Do you know how to diagnose it?Â
DON'T LOSE A PATIENT BECAUSE YOU DIDN'T KNOW THE INJURY AND HOW TO TREAT IT!
Â
We will cover all of these injuries and more in the upcoming MODULE IV (Neck, Shoulder & Upper Extremity) Assessment and Treatment of Injury course held in Bloomfield, New Jersey (December 2024) and San Diego, California (January 2025).Â
