Enhancing Sports Medicine with Traditional Chinese Medicine
ACUSPORT EDUCATION NEWSLETTER
ISSUE 28 | JULY 2020
Summertime is here at last and we are hoping you are getting some time out side to enjoy the sunshine. We understand that social restrictions are loosening in many places, but we also recognize that what the environment will be like in the months ahead is still unpredictable. As such, we have made the decision to offer the first part of Module III: The Low Back, Hip and Groin as an online webinar offering this coming October.
The dates for the October classes will remain the same, as will the content with some modifications to focus on the didactic portions of these modules. We will still be presenting cadaver dissection lab, palpation lab and motor point locations and needle technique. Our goal is to provide you with the tools for our practical class which we are still anticipating will run as scheduled in January 2021 at the Eastern School of Acupuncture in NJ.
Please scroll down to SMAC PROGRAM below for more information on registration, cancellation and payment plans.
In addition to the SMAC Program Module III online webinar, we have also continued to develop online coursework to supplement your studies and prepare you for returning to the classroom. We hope you have been able to utilize some of the tools presented in in the past couple of blogs: Telemedicine Guide: A Low Back Pain Case and Patient Self-Care for Balancing the Lung Sinew Channel (Jingjin) since virtual consultations may be something that we will
continue to offer our patients adjunctively as we slowly return to clinic.
As another reminder for those who are still engaged in virtual practice, Unified Practice has a telehealth platform that is FREE to UP subscribers. Here is the
link!

my “tool” bag could not help! Thanks again!” — Ali Racheotes

6. ACUSPORT EDUCATION'S STRATEGIC ALLIANCES
We want to make sure you know about the beneficial alliances that AcuSport Education has formed with Lhasa OMS and Unified Practice. This is just one of the ways we are fulfilling our goal to support our program graduates!
7. WANT TO STAY CONNECTED WITH US DURING THE MONTH?
Make sure to join our Sports Acupuncture Facebook Group where we post interesting treatment strategies and the sports acupuncture community shares clinically relevant discussions that can help you improve your practice. We began
moderating this new group on July 1, 2019. It is closed to the public, but open to ALL Licensed Acupuncturists and Acupuncture students (proof required) and ALL members of the group can post. The page is NOT exclusive to C.SMAs, so others training in Sports Acupuncture are welcome to post, though we think that the group will reflect Sports Medicine Acupuncture, especially if C.SMAs post frequently. Below is a portion of the statement that appears on the 'About'
page.
"This group is open to licensed and registered acupuncturists. The goal of this sports acupuncture group is to build unity in the field of Sports and Orthopedic acupuncture and to promote this field within the larger acupuncture community. While the administrators of the group are the creators of Sports Medicine Acupuncture®, sports and orthopedic are welcome to post and discuss. The group is lightly moderated. Information from
all traditions of acupuncture are welcome and encouraged, as they are collectively integrated into this forum, but please keep the conversation relevant to the above stated goals."
The current SMA Google Group (for C.SMA practitioners) and SMA Facebook page remain the same.
